LAUGH

This is another combination of 2 challenges.  This weeks challenge #58 over at The Color Room

The second challenge is the May 15th challenge over at Once Upon a Sketch

I personally loved both of these challenges.  I think the colours of the colour palette are stunning, and this sketch is just fantastic.  Anyway here is what I have created:

I have not used my usual huge amount of flowers with this LO, I have instead stuck with more understated embellishments.  I love this photo of my son Jayden and nephew Logan swimming at one of our favourite swimming spots.  The water is freezing but so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom.  It is a beautiful place.  The boys were having so much fun, Jayden is laughing so hard that he is having trouble keeping his head about the water.

I have used a number of different patterned papers to give some extra layers to this page.  I have used Glimmer Mist on the white card.  Even though it doesn't show up in the photos there is a faint hint of script in the background where I have stamped and then clear embossed before spraying over it with the glimmer mist.  I added a bit of lace to the bottom of one of my patterened papers not only to get the "peach" colour in the LO but also because I thought that with the scalloped edge of the lace & the scalloped edge that I punched on the patterned paper it worked well together.

The title is chipboard letters covered in distress crackle paint and then topped with glossy accents.  I have used a variety of brads and decorative paper clips as embellishments.  I really like the understated effect.  I think that this page works well.  I was unsure of it most of the way through but I do believe that it has come together nicely in the end.

Well in all of my intellegence today I have gone and neglected the journalling criteria over at Once Upon a Sketch - the criteria states that the journalling should be typed.
I have since gone back and rectified this situation and this is the outcome now:

I don't really think that the different Journalling spot makes all that much difference.  I actually think that I like the 2nd one a little better because the dark blue contrasts really well with the lighter blues that I have used no the rest of the page.

Thanks for looking & for your comments.
I hope you have a fantastic day :-)

TCR #56

Ok well I did say in my last post that I was going to set a goal to do 3 new posts this week.  This is my first one!! YAY!! I sat down last night and prayed that my mojo would come back to me.  No such luck but I did manage to get Layout number 2 done for my Grandparents birthday present.  I have used the colour palette over at The Colour Room for this LO.

As much as I love the colours of this palette,  and I really love the inspiration picture (I am sure that everyone is fully aware of my Prima obsession), I really struggled with putting the colours together on my LO.  I managed to get through it though and this is what I came up with...........

I started off with the base page which was just white cardstock.  I added to it some white embossed flourishes.  I then watered down some paints and poured them over the page.  I had to then wipe off the excess paint so that the flourishes came through.  I liked the outcome but after agonising over the colour palette I decided that the blue was "to blue".  I then came across a patterened paper that I had in a stack that had all of the colours worked into it.  I decided to use half of this (the more colourful half) to cover over some of the blue on the page.  So I tore it in half, distressed the other edges and stuck it down.  At this point I was ready to just give up!! I really didn't like how it was looking. But I perservered and after getting the rest of the elements on the page I have actually come to like it.  I would however really like to find my mojo........ it has been gone for a while now and I am really missing it.

Some Prima pearls and flowers along with some mini roses and a pattered brad make up some of the elements that started to turn this page around for me

Obviously I love flowers at the moment.  The title is chipboard that has been painted with yellow and then covered with glossy accents.

I have used some lace to add a bit more depth to the page aswell.  The more I look at the page the more I like it.

This is the decorative pin that I put together.  I really like the little added touch.  I knew that one day I would find a use for the beads I had lying around.

Thanks for looking............ If you happen to come across my missing Mojo please let me know.
Oh and don't forget about my blog candy giveaway!!

Hopefully I will be back tomorrow with another post.
Have a great day :-)

TCR #52 + Scrapbooking Competitions

Because of a lack of time management on my part this week I have combined a couple of challenges - a Colour Challenge & a Sketch Challenge.
The challenges that I have combined are The Color Room with there 1st Birthday this week offering Challenge #52 and a very exciting new sponsor................... my favourite PRIMA!!!
I have also created my LO on my translation of the sketch from Scrapbooking Competitions Blog.

This is the gorgeous Colour Palette that I have used

This is the gorgeous sketch.............. this sketch fitted me so well with my love of all things flowers & butterflies!!!

This is the LO that I have created.  I have used a photo of my gorgeous girl Mackenzie that was taken over the weekend.  The colour of Mackenzies swimmers tied in so well with the colour palette.  The image on her swimmers is roses that are shades of pink, purple & teal - this doesn't show up all that well in this photo, however it is more prominent on the LO.

I love using the tear in the page and putting a contrasting paper under it, however I don't really like to leave it empty so I have added this very sparkly butterfly and then added a row of Kaiser roses as the colours work perfectly.

I have used a packet of the beautiful Prima pearls on this page and just cut them in order to make them go further.
I have used a mix of both Prima & Kaisercraft flowers on this page.  I love this little pink butterfly.  It is made out of feathers and is really cute!

I have used some crochet lace along with the pearls & the gorgeous Prima Flower.  The white paper that I have used on this LO is embossed & is absolutely gorgeous.  It has a metalic finish to it and just pops off the page.

For my title I have used a combination of Chipboard and Sticky bling words.  The chipboard was just raw chipboard and I covered it with a paint dabber and then added some cotton candy glitter to it.  I love the Glittery finish.  I like how it adds a bit more dimension to the title!

I have also used a mix of Prima & Kaisercraft flowers in this corner.  It also contains another of the glittery handmade butterflies

The lacing in this LO is a technique that I came across yesterday.  I loved it so much that I had to use it in the LO.  It was my first ever time doing this sort of lacing and I must admit it took me ages and I was ready to give up half way through, but it looked so good that I couldn't.  I have to attribute this gorgeous technique to the wildly talented Natasha over at My Moments of Tranquility.
Thank you so much for the tutorial!!!

I really enjoyed doing this LO, it was a mix of the colours I love with the elements I love.  Thanks so much for taking the time to look.  I hope that I have offered some inspiration.

The Color Room Palette #50

This week The Color Room presented their 50th Colour Palette.  Along with the palette they presented a Blog Hop to all of the DT's blogs.  I had so much fun completing the blog hop and got soooo many good ideas that I wanted to try in a LO.

This is what I created with the Colour Palette above

I think this would have to be my favourite LO that I have done yet

"Once Upon A Time" - Title was done using Kaszazz stamp with Tim Holtz distress ink - Faded Jeans.
I then went over the words with a small dose of Crackle Accents by Ranger.

I used some white embossing powder to emboss the Magnolia stamp (by Kaszazz) and then sprayed the area with Smooch Spritz - Sea Kiss.  I also created so sploches using watered down paint & a straw (this idea came from the blog hop).
I added a few hand cut butterflies to the rolled area to create a little more detail.

I wanted to note the age of this photo...... it is my Grade 1 photo taken in 1989 - I used small alphabet stickers in order to do this.  I wanted to give a little something extra to the rolled back area and therefore placed a strip of sticky bling along the edge of the roll.

A better view of the sticky bling.  I created the laced section with some small eyelets and some navy blue satin ribbon.

I have used some lace under the photo, this lace was originally white and I used the watered down paint to add some colour to it.  I have also used a script stamp and Faded Jeans distress ink to add some more dimension to the background.  I have used 2 different papers to mount the photo - this paper was wet and crumpled - then opened back up and dried out.
I am just loving Prima at the moment and have used some Prima flowers and pearl accents - there are also a few miniture roses in the flower cluster.  I have also cut out a butterfly and added it to the cluster.

Thanks for looking..................
