Happy New Year

Well I would like to start off by wishing everyone a very Happy New Year.  I hope that you all enjoyed your New Year celebrations and that the New Year brings you all that you desire.
Secondly I would like to apologise again for being M.I.A.  As most of you know the Christmas season sends us all into chaos and I just couldn't seem to find the time to scratch myself let alone do a blog post.  Although I did recieve some exciting news last month.............. I applied for a DT position with a well known Australian chipboard company A 2 Z Scraplets.  This is the first time I have applied for a DT position and I was thrilled when I recieved an email telling me that I had been successful.  My DT commitment starts this month but I was so excited that I forced myself to stay up later then usual and complete a layout for their December Sketch Challenge over on their A 2 Z Scraplets Blog.  The December Sketch Challenge is now closed but be sure to keep an eye out for the January one.  I am very excited about my creation for that one - can't share it with you yet though :)

This is the sketch for the December challenge

This is my take on the sketch

I have used the A2Z Scraplets chipboard cogs in this LO and I have used perfect pearls and glossy accents to create a rusty distressed kind of look (photos don't do it justice).  I have also used a plastic disk which I have stamped a Kaszazz stamp onto with Archival Ink and then clear embossing powder.  This stamp matches the Kaszazz paper that I have used in this LO.

I have used Prima flowers on the LO as well and created a decorative pin.  I am absolutely loving the way that it has turned out.

Thank you for looking and I hope that you have enjoyed this post.  Don't forget to check out my blog candy and I hope you have a fantastic day :)

Just a quick one

Ok so I have been very slack on the updating of my blog, but in my defence, I just haven't been creating as much as I want to so I have not had anything worth blogging about.  Well anyway I have a couple of new layouts to share but I am hoping that I start turning out a few more because I have all this gorgeous scrapbooking stuff - and I keep buying more so I really need to start using so that I can justify all the spending.
This is the first layout.  The photo was taken on the May Day long weekend this year when we went to Cape Hillsborough for my Grandparents 80th birthday.
I absolutely love this photo!

The title for this page has a lot happening on it that doesn't really show up in the photo.  It is a gorgeous A2Z Scraplet chipboard and it has embossing, modeling paste, crackle paint, smootch ink, design adhesives & foil as well as kindy glitz.  I love how it turned out and it looks heaps better in real life then it does in this photo

The next layout is of a photo that was taken the same weekend and I love this photo because it looks like she is sitting on the rocks deep in thought, when infact she was in a bad mood with me because I told her that it was time to go and she stormed off and refused to look at me front on.

This LO actually took me a few weeks to complete because I did the majority of it, then decided that I didn't like it but I liked the colour scheme, and the frame around the photo so it got completely reworked.  I still don't feel like it is finished because it doesn't have  a title but I have no idea what title to give it so it just has to be one without a title.  Hopefully one day a title will come to me and I can rectify the situation.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking, and I promise I am going to try harder to get more posts up on here.
Have a great day and don't forget about my blog candy giveaway.  :)

GORGEOUS

My latest Layout has been inspired by 2 challenges.
The first is a colour challenge over at Color Combos Galore.
This week is palette #193 and when I saw the colours I thought they were awesome.  I love the contrast that the black gives against the softer pinks and greens.

The second of the challenges was a........ Yep you guessed it........ Sketch challenge.
The sketch that has inspired this LO is over at Sketch Inspiration and is this weeks challenge #220

I really enjoyed both of these challenges.  I absolutely adore what I have created.

Yesterday I bought some modelling paste.  That soon became the basis for the background of my layout.  I have used the modelling paste and createdd a swirled texture backgroudn.  I have then scrunched up some lace material and stuck it on the page whilst the modelling paste was still wet.  When this was dry I watered down some pink paint and splashed it over the page............ the drying process of this page was painful because it took so long.  Next time I use this method I will just do it before I go to bed and then leave it overnight, rather then waiting for it to dry so that I can continue with the LO.

This is the title of my page which is raw chipboard that has been painted with white, dusted with glitter and then covered with glossy accents.  I have played with the colours of this photo in order to try and show you all of the rainbow colours that are through this glitter.  It is definately my favourite glitter that I have (and there is a fair few of them)

Yay another LO with flowers - funny that :-).  I just love flowers, I got a massive order of roses the other day and have used these for this flower cluster.  I have put in one prima flowers, just for a bit of variety, and because, it's Prima!!!
I have also used some sprays and some little curly things that are really cute that I also bought yesterday.  The pom pom ribbon was also a yesterday purchase and I just think it is adorable.  I had to put it on the page.
Anyway now that I have shown you the elements of the page here is the full LO:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.  I hope that I have provided some inspiration for you.
Why not head on over to Sketch Inspiration and Color Combos Galore and join in the challenge for yourself.

Thanks for looking & for your comments.
Hope you have a fantastic day!!!

LAUGH

This is another combination of 2 challenges.  This weeks challenge #58 over at The Color Room

The second challenge is the May 15th challenge over at Once Upon a Sketch

I personally loved both of these challenges.  I think the colours of the colour palette are stunning, and this sketch is just fantastic.  Anyway here is what I have created:

I have not used my usual huge amount of flowers with this LO, I have instead stuck with more understated embellishments.  I love this photo of my son Jayden and nephew Logan swimming at one of our favourite swimming spots.  The water is freezing but so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom.  It is a beautiful place.  The boys were having so much fun, Jayden is laughing so hard that he is having trouble keeping his head about the water.

I have used a number of different patterned papers to give some extra layers to this page.  I have used Glimmer Mist on the white card.  Even though it doesn't show up in the photos there is a faint hint of script in the background where I have stamped and then clear embossed before spraying over it with the glimmer mist.  I added a bit of lace to the bottom of one of my patterened papers not only to get the "peach" colour in the LO but also because I thought that with the scalloped edge of the lace & the scalloped edge that I punched on the patterned paper it worked well together.

The title is chipboard letters covered in distress crackle paint and then topped with glossy accents.  I have used a variety of brads and decorative paper clips as embellishments.  I really like the understated effect.  I think that this page works well.  I was unsure of it most of the way through but I do believe that it has come together nicely in the end.

Well in all of my intellegence today I have gone and neglected the journalling criteria over at Once Upon a Sketch - the criteria states that the journalling should be typed.
I have since gone back and rectified this situation and this is the outcome now:

I don't really think that the different Journalling spot makes all that much difference.  I actually think that I like the 2nd one a little better because the dark blue contrasts really well with the lighter blues that I have used no the rest of the page.

Thanks for looking & for your comments.
I hope you have a fantastic day :-)

Beautiful Girls

I have combined 2 challenges for the following LO.  I have used Challenge #192 from Color Combos Galore
I have combined this gorgeous colour combo with the gorgeous May sketch over at The Dusty Attic.

This will be my first challenge entry at The Dusty Attic.  The stipulation to the challenge is to not only use your interpretation of the sketch but you also need to contribute Dusty Attic products.  This is fine by me because I absolutely adore Dusty Attic chipboard.
Here is what I have created:

I absolutely loved the colour palette this week.  As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use.  The photo is one that I took a couple of weeks ago at Cape Hillsborough when my family got together for my Grandparents 80th Birthdays.  Their birthdays aren't actually until next month but we celebrated early.  It is a very big family and difficult to get everyone together.  This photo is of my little princess Mackenzie and my gorgeous niece Mia.
I have used lots of different papers here, lots of flowers and I have even used some watered down paint and a straw to create the purple splatters.  I have also got a light green painted circle on the base card that just pokes out under the photo and flowers.

I have used the DA flutterbies along with some rhinestones up the page.  I sprayed the DA flutterbie with some Vanilla Smooch Shimmer.  I love the glittery effect.  I have also torn the page and then stuck it back together and added some lacing to the page with a sheer glittery ribbon.   This lacing technique comes from Natasha over at her My Moments of Tranquility blog.

I have also used some DA mini butterflies all over the page.  This photo is a collage of close ups of the butterflies.  I have actually done each butterfly with a different effect.  The first is using painting the raw chipboard with smooch ink, then covering with glossy accents.  The second is simply covering the raw chipboard with Kindyglitz.  The 3rd is heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  The 4th is covered with tacky glue and then had foil used over it.  And the 5th is covered with Distress Crackle Paint and then lightly covered with IceStickles.
I love the little butterflies with all of their differenct effects scattered over the page.  It makes for interesting elements.

This is a close up of the flowers used on the page............... can you find the butterflies?
Mostly Prima flowers with a few mini roses thrown in amongst them all.

A close up of my title that is a mix of chipboard & handwritten title.  The chipboard has been covered in paint, then glitter, and then glossy accents.  I have handwritten the word "Girls".

This is the decorative pin that I put together.  The original pin started off as just the pin with the crystal bead at the top, I added the butterfly, pearl and green swarovski bead.  I have tucked this in amongst the flowers and it is just another nice little element to look at on the page.

As mentioned earlier I have torn the page and then put it back together.  I curled the edges and distressed them to let through a bit of colour from a patterened page that I added behind the tear.  I then added a strip of rhinestones along the edge of the curl.  Just to add a bit of interest to that area.

I didn't really know where to put the journalling on the page so decided to create a little pocket behind the photo that this tag just slides into and is discreetly hidden.  All that is seen of the tag is the edge and the ribbon.  As this is part of an album being made for my grandparents I thought it was important that the journalling tag can still be seen enough to know that something is there.

Thank you for looking.  I hope that you have enjoyed this LO as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Have a fantastic day!!!

Muddy Fun

This LO has been inspired by the colour palette over at Color Combos Galore.

I really liked this weeks challenge.

This is the 3rd LO for my Grandparents birthday album that I am doing (I have already scrapped this photo for myself).  It is also the 3rd post for the week on my blog which makes me really happy to say that I have achieved the goal that I set for myself.
Here is what I created:

I am loving this LO.  It is much more simple then my usual style.  I also love this photo.  It is one of my favourites.  My children playing in the mud after a long time being stuck inside because of not just an early wet season, but an unusually long one.  Finally I gave in and let them just go and play in the mud.  They had so much fun.  But they got soooo messy.  I think I was getting dirt out of Mackenzie's hair for a week after.  But it was worth it to see them so happy playing outside.

Not my usual huge amount of flowers but effective none-the-less.  I wanted to keep this simple and I thought that 3 simple flowers down the side of the photo worked really well.  Yes they are Prima flowers!!!!  I also love the Dusty Attic chipboard that I have used on this page.  I have painted it with a Pearl paint dabber and I think it looks awesome.

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a fantastic day :-)
