GORGEOUS

My latest Layout has been inspired by 2 challenges.
The first is a colour challenge over at Color Combos Galore.
This week is palette #193 and when I saw the colours I thought they were awesome.  I love the contrast that the black gives against the softer pinks and greens.

The second of the challenges was a........ Yep you guessed it........ Sketch challenge.
The sketch that has inspired this LO is over at Sketch Inspiration and is this weeks challenge #220

I really enjoyed both of these challenges.  I absolutely adore what I have created.

Yesterday I bought some modelling paste.  That soon became the basis for the background of my layout.  I have used the modelling paste and createdd a swirled texture backgroudn.  I have then scrunched up some lace material and stuck it on the page whilst the modelling paste was still wet.  When this was dry I watered down some pink paint and splashed it over the page............ the drying process of this page was painful because it took so long.  Next time I use this method I will just do it before I go to bed and then leave it overnight, rather then waiting for it to dry so that I can continue with the LO.

This is the title of my page which is raw chipboard that has been painted with white, dusted with glitter and then covered with glossy accents.  I have played with the colours of this photo in order to try and show you all of the rainbow colours that are through this glitter.  It is definately my favourite glitter that I have (and there is a fair few of them)

Yay another LO with flowers - funny that :-).  I just love flowers, I got a massive order of roses the other day and have used these for this flower cluster.  I have put in one prima flowers, just for a bit of variety, and because, it's Prima!!!
I have also used some sprays and some little curly things that are really cute that I also bought yesterday.  The pom pom ribbon was also a yesterday purchase and I just think it is adorable.  I had to put it on the page.
Anyway now that I have shown you the elements of the page here is the full LO:

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.  I hope that I have provided some inspiration for you.

Beautiful Girls

I have combined 2 challenges for the following LO.  I have used Challenge #192 from Color Combos Galore
I have combined this gorgeous colour combo with the gorgeous May sketch over at The Dusty Attic.

This will be my first challenge entry at The Dusty Attic.  The stipulation to the challenge is to not only use your interpretation of the sketch but you also need to contribute Dusty Attic products.  This is fine by me because I absolutely adore Dusty Attic chipboard.
Here is what I have created:

I absolutely loved the colour palette this week.  As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use.  The photo is one that I took a couple of weeks ago at Cape Hillsborough when my family got together for my Grandparents 80th Birthdays.  Their birthdays aren't actually until next month but we celebrated early.  It is a very big family and difficult to get everyone together.  This photo is of my little princess Mackenzie and my gorgeous niece Mia.
I have used lots of different papers here, lots of flowers and I have even used some watered down paint and a straw to create the purple splatters.  I have also got a light green painted circle on the base card that just pokes out under the photo and flowers.

I have used the DA flutterbies along with some rhinestones up the page.  I sprayed the DA flutterbie with some Vanilla Smooch Shimmer.  I love the glittery effect.  I have also torn the page and then stuck it back together and added some lacing to the page with a sheer glittery ribbon.   This lacing technique comes from Natasha over at her My Moments of Tranquility blog.

I have also used some DA mini butterflies all over the page.  This photo is a collage of close ups of the butterflies.  I have actually done each butterfly with a different effect.  The first is using painting the raw chipboard with smooch ink, then covering with glossy accents.  The second is simply covering the raw chipboard with Kindyglitz.  The 3rd is heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  The 4th is covered with tacky glue and then had foil used over it.  And the 5th is covered with Distress Crackle Paint and then lightly covered with IceStickles.
I love the little butterflies with all of their differenct effects scattered over the page.  It makes for interesting elements.

This is a close up of the flowers used on the page............... can you find the butterflies?
Mostly Prima flowers with a few mini roses thrown in amongst them all.

A close up of my title that is a mix of chipboard & handwritten title.  The chipboard has been covered in paint, then glitter, and then glossy accents.  I have handwritten the word "Girls".

This is the decorative pin that I put together.  The original pin started off as just the pin with the crystal bead at the top, I added the butterfly, pearl and green swarovski bead.  I have tucked this in amongst the flowers and it is just another nice little element to look at on the page.

As mentioned earlier I have torn the page and then put it back together.  I curled the edges and distressed them to let through a bit of colour from a patterened page that I added behind the tear.  I then added a strip of rhinestones along the edge of the curl.  Just to add a bit of interest to that area.

I didn't really know where to put the journalling on the page so decided to create a little pocket behind the photo that this tag just slides into and is discreetly hidden.  All that is seen of the tag is the edge and the ribbon.  As this is part of an album being made for my grandparents I thought it was important that the journalling tag can still be seen enough to know that something is there.

Thank you for looking.  I hope that you have enjoyed this LO as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Have a fantastic day!!!

Muddy Fun

This LO has been inspired by the colour palette over at Color Combos Galore.

I really liked this weeks challenge.

This is the 3rd LO for my Grandparents birthday album that I am doing (I have already scrapped this photo for myself).  It is also the 3rd post for the week on my blog which makes me really happy to say that I have achieved the goal that I set for myself.
Here is what I created:

I am loving this LO.  It is much more simple then my usual style.  I also love this photo.  It is one of my favourites.  My children playing in the mud after a long time being stuck inside because of not just an early wet season, but an unusually long one.  Finally I gave in and let them just go and play in the mud.  They had so much fun.  But they got soooo messy.  I think I was getting dirt out of Mackenzie's hair for a week after.  But it was worth it to see them so happy playing outside.

Not my usual huge amount of flowers but effective none-the-less.  I wanted to keep this simple and I thought that 3 simple flowers down the side of the photo worked really well.  Yes they are Prima flowers!!!!  I also love the Dusty Attic chipboard that I have used on this page.  I have painted it with a Pearl paint dabber and I think it looks awesome.

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a fantastic day :-)

Water Park Fun

Well this week has been pretty hectic so I have decided to combine some of the challenges this week.  I have combined a sketch challenge along side a colour challenge.

This is the Colour Challenge of at Color Combos Galore

This Sketch Challenge can be found over at Sketch Inspiration

Using both of these challenges together I have come up with what I think is a lovely LO of my gorgeous son at the waterpark in Townsville as he spent the weekend with his dad for the first time in a lot of years.  I love the photo in this LO!!

This LO started with a smoky grey sheet of Bazzill.  I have used Gesso on the background, this is my first time using guesso!!

I then added the matting to my photo with some scrunched up script paper.  I have layered on top of this matting some lace which has been sprayed with some Glimmer Mist to add a bit of colour.  I have used this to add a "sheer" element to the LO.  I have then used some gorgeous shell paper that I had behind the matting which I thought tied in really well considering the water and the beach side of the photo.

After placing the photo and the matting down on the page I set to work with the banner.  I cut the triangles for the banner from some lovely patterened card that I had, I had originally planned to put the banner on either side of the LO as it is in the sketch, then decided that this LO really didn't need it.  So have adapted the sketch to suit the LO better.  I have used crochet thread to stitch the top of the banner.

I am going through a Prima phase at the moment so have used some of the gorgeous Prima Pearls on the corner of the photo just for an extra element in the top corner.
My craft room looks like it has had a bit of a Prima overload, but who can blame me.  It is just soooo gorgeous!!

I have used my Cricut Expression to cut the title of this LO.  I cut it out of the same paper that I got the banner triangles from, I thought this would help tie it all together.

The paper with the shells on it is double sided.  I turned it over to the lighter side and printed my journalling on it.  I was originally going to hand write the journalling but decided to print it onto the paper instead.  I think that it was the right decision.

Being in LOVE with Prima at the moment the page would not have been complete without some flowers.  I have added a couple of Prima's along with some other mini roses that I bought from Lincraft.
I have also added a feather butterfly to this LO just for a little bit extra.  I love butterflies and flowers and have only recently become a believer in the fact that they can also work on "Boy" LO's.

My little man Jayden is wrapped that I am now using flowers and butterflies on his LO's because he used to get a little upset about seeing all the beautiful flowers on my LO's of my daughter.  He is impressed that they can work for him as well.  So am I because now I just put flowers on everything!!!!
Why not when there are so many gorgeous ones out there!

I hope you have enjoyed my take on these 2 wonderful challenges.

Head on over to Sketch Inspiration and Color Combos Galore and have a look at all of the other inspirational entries.  Why not join in yourself.

Colour Combo #185

This week is Colour Combo #185 over at Color Combos Galore

I actually found this weeks challenge to be a little difficult........ The colours Red, White, Chartruese and Brown kind of threw me a bit.  I wasn't actually sure what to do, or if to even participate in this challenge.  Anyway I decided to bite the bullet and just go for it.
This is what I have created!

I printed this photo out a while ago and it was actually destined for a large collage frame that I also bought a while ago, I just haven't put photos in it yet.  I decided that it would actually work for this challenge with the green of the trees in the background and the red of Mackenzies top.......... so the collage frame will sit dormant for a while longer :-)

I used a Kaszazz sticky bling word "Cherish" for the title, but decided that it needed a little more - so added some mini alphabet stickers (also Kaszazz) and extended the title.  I used a script stamp roughly inked with Barn Door distress ink in the background to add a little more dimension and red to the LO.
I am not a huge fan of brown - just seems so boring to me.  So I decided that I would just add a bit of brown my spraying some Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on the white card background.

I have used a journal stamp to get the journalling block.  I have also used some sort of weaved straw ribbon that I have had for a long time now in the background - it is actually a maroon colour.  I have used a mix of Prima and other flowers for the embellishments on this page.  I have also added a few sticky gems at the bottom of the journalling block just for some added embellishment.

I have also used a doily on this LO........... I bought these off ebay for about $6 for 10 of them.
I really did struggle with this Colour Combination and the LO in general.  I do think that it has come together fairly well, however there was more then one occasion that I seriously considered binning the whole thing and not worrying about it.

Color Combos Galore

My latest obsession is Colour Challenges.  I have become addicted to them.  Over at Color Combos Galore there is a new colour challenge each week.

This week is #184 and I just loved the colours.
As soon as I saw this colour combo I just knew what photos I wanted to use.

I just adore these photos of my gorgeous daughter Mackenzie at 4 months, however they were closer to the bottom of my massive pile of photos so they were just kind of forgotten about.  Not when I saw the colours though.  I had to dig around for a while to find them but I finally did.
I have used a mix of handmade & bought flowers on this LO.  I am just loving Prima flowers at the moment and I am steadily building my collection of them........... this LO includes a couple of primas.  I also love the ribbon that I have used on this LO, it has little rose buds on it.

There are soooo many talented Ladies over at Color Combos Galore so if you are not already addicted to it why not head over there and check it out................. maybe join in a challenge, or 10 :-)

Thanks for visiting...........
